George D. McDorman, Sr. passed away peacefully on September 29, 2019 at the age of 93.
Born in Chicago, IL on May 24, 1926 to George and Esther (Gilroy) McDorman, he attended Steinmetz High School in, Chicago and He attended college at DePaul University and University of Chicago. He proudly served his country in World War II in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946. On October 4, 1947 George married Siri M. Carlson at Midwest Bible Church in Chicago. He began working at Florsheim Shoes in 1948 to 1979 and served as Senior Vice President of Freeman Shoes from 1979 until his retirement 1989.
George was fortunate to live in numerous states throughout the country, Illinois, Missouri, Florida, Virginia and Wisconsin among them. He was a member of the Beloit YMCA, American Legion and US Navy Memorial. He enjoyed golf, gardening and a good book. He was a faithful member of Hope Evangelical Free Church in Roscoe, IL.
Survived by daughter Lisa (Rick) Conner, former daughter-in-law Kathy Kamlah; grandkids Zack, Lexie, Daniel (Kelly), Nathan, Shaun, Michael, and Stephanie; great grandkids Samantha, Asia, Marcella, Daniel, Ian, Gianni, Giuliano, Gia, Isaiah, Xzander, Cloe, Sydney and Robbie. The Alms Kids were honorary grandchildren, sister Lorraine Heller and many nieces, nephews and his furry companion Tammy.
Predeceased by his wife Siri, his Parents, his Son G. Douglas McDorman Jr., his brother Wayne and his brother in law Earl.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Evert-Luko Funeral Home, 170 Warren Ave Hartland, WI 53029. Visitation will be held 10am until 11:00am. Service will be at 11:00am followed by a luncheon at the American Legion 231 Goodwin Avenue Hartland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established in George’s name.
