Joyce K. Meka

Joyce Kerry Meka (nee Naystatt), 91 yrs old, left this world on Nov 21, 2021. She passed peacefully with family holding her hands, warm and safe at Angels Grace Hospice. She will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved her, especially her husband, Richard (or "Meka" as she always called him), and their little dog, Murphy. Joyce and Dick celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past September and had been in each other's lives for over 75 years.

Joyce will be missed and lovingly remembered by her four children: Jodi Groth, Teri VanDam-Kiger-Fass (Dave), Tom Meka (Susie), and Jim Meka (Kaye); nine grandchildren: Nathan Groth, Kyle Groth (Katia), Ryan Groth, Nicholas VanDam (Gillinder), Claire Kiger, Jordan Meka (Erin), Sarah Leeman (Michael), Jacob Meka, and Alyssa Meka; and four great-grandchildren: Thomas VanDam, Braddock Meka, Dylan Meka, and Stella Leeman.

While the melanoma she worked to overcome for six plus years may have ultimately taken her life, it could not alter the essence of who she was. She was continually grateful and felt blessed to have her husband, children, family and friends in her life, prayed for them regularly, was always concerned about their well-being and willing to help any of them in any way she possibly could. Throughout her time on this earth, Joyce treated everyone and everything with kindness, respect, and love - even a little bug she might find in her house would be moved on a tissue to the outside or into another room rather than squishing it.
