Darlene A. Wallschlager passed away on December 4, 2023.
She was born on July 9, 1934 in Neillsville, WI at home to parents Joyce (Haeuser) and Myrle Hales. Her family moved to Loyal, WI during her first-grade school year. She married Donald Halpin and moved to Milwaukee in 1950 where she worked at the Boston Store. They had 4 children together and moved to Lake Keesus and later North Lake, WI. In 1957 Don was killed in a car accident. Darlene was alone with 4 small children, hours away from family so she went to work as a waitress to provide for her family. She married Lester E. Wallschlager in 1959 and they had one child. They built a house on Dorn Road in Hartland in 1963 which is where Darlene lived until her health conditions weakened and she moved in with her daughter and son-in-law for the past 2-1/2 years. Darlene worked hard her entire life caring for her family. She enjoyed working the Town of Merton polls, playing Sheepshead with the family and attending her church, Kettle Moraine United Presbyterian Church. She also loved the family dogs.
Darlene is survived by her children: Ann V. Franke (Martin), Michael Halpin (Mary Pavlick), Barbara George as well as her son-in-law Michael Beck and her daughter-in-law Maureen Halpin. She was a special grandmother to: Teri Hodapp (Mathew), Jeff Halpin (Erin), Austin Wallschlager, JoDee George-Nifong (Tyler), Ryan George (Amy Thomas), Adam George (Michelle), Annie Waeffler (Ryan), Zachary Beck (Maeghan), Olivia Beck, Marcus Halpin (Andrea), Elizabeth Figarsky (Adam) and Madeline Juillard (Colin).
She is further survived by 14 great-grandchildren, her sister Nan Weihmuller (Walt), and Mary Jo Salone.
She was preceded in death by both husbands, her parents, son David Halpin and daughter Rebecca Halpin-Beck, and son-in-law Paul George.
Funeral Services will be held at her church; Kettle Moraine United Presbyterian, N66W32690 County Trunk Hwy K, Hartland, WI 53029, on Saturday, December 9, 2023. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, with a service beginning at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Lisbon-Merton Union Cemetery and a luncheon will follow the burial at Kettle Moraine United Presbyterian Church.
