Eugene H. Graunke

Eugene “Gene or Butch” Howard Graunke
Born March 17, 1930 in Milwaukee, WI entered into eternal life on October 23, 2021 at the age of 91 years.

Preceded in death by his parents Wallace W Graunke, Julia (Mayer) Graunke, brothers Warren and Gilbert, sister Joyce, wife of 25 years Judith and one son Jeffery.

Survived by son Scott (Jodie) Graunke, daughters Cindy (Jeff) Javens, Julia (Rick) Durica, grandchildren Dana (Tyler) Silvers, Tim Moll, Tamara Moll, Rebecca (Nick) Remsha, Joe and Sarah Durica, great grandchildren Jordan, Jalen and Isabella.

Gene graduated from Milwaukee Boys Tech high school in June 1949, where he was the business manager of the “Craftsman”, his high school newspaper. He was a member of the 1948 state champion baseball team and played for the Schlitz American Legion baseball team.

During the Korean War he was a member of the 720 military police battalion stationed in Tokyo Japan from 1951-1953.
Before retirement he spent many years in graphic arts sales and service. After retirement, he enjoyed being a school crossing guard in Hartland.

Gene enjoyed nature and wildlife photography and was an avid wood carver specializing in waterfowl. Many of his carvings were donated to the wildlife in need organization for use in auctions or fund-raising events.

Gene was a member of the American Legion post 294 Hartland, WI.

A visitation will be held Monday, November 1, 2021 from 3:00PM until 5:00PM with a Funeral Service at 5:00PM at Evert-Luko Funeral Home, 170 Warren Avenue, Hartland, Wisconsin 53029.

The family would like to thank ProHealth Home Care & Hospice and Comfort Keepers Home Care for the wonderful and kind care they gave him in his last days.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Friends of Horicon Marsh – Mayville, WI would be appreciated.
