Hannah "Hootie" Grace MacGregor

January 13, 1999 — February 13, 2025

Beloved daughter, sister and friend

Imagine having a difficult life… and yet the joyful times somehow shine much brighter than the hard times. That is the life of Hannah Grace MacGregor. Hannah suffered a massive head bleed before she was born that resulted in many disabilities. She was told that she would have many troubles in her life, and she did. She also was told that she would not have a good life, and that is where she proved many wrong. Hannah lived a full life until her very last breath.

Hannah was born in Baltimore, Maryland on January 13, 1999. At an early age she was enrolled in special therapies to help her develop and thrive. She worked hard and then often would just fall asleep in the middle of therapy as a way of saying, “I’m done for today.” Hannah moved to Indianapolis and made many friends in her high school Life Skills class. Her classmates remember her for her amazing smile. She also did receive the “best hair” award at more than one school.

By the time Hannah moved to Wisconsin, she began to experience a significant decline due to worsening seizure activity. This did not keep Hannah from smiling and living a full life, though. Hannah loved her walks through the woods at Rainbow Springs nature preserve. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing with her mom, and reading stories with her dad. Most of all, Hannah enjoyed her sister Emma styling her hair and just spending time together.

Hannah suffered a serious seizure event from which she did not fully recover. A few days later, on February 13, 2025, Hannah passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family as they all prayed, listened to songs and read Scriptures that affirmed God's love over her. Hannah breathed her last while embraced by her family.

Hannah is survived by her mom and dad, Debbie and Jamie, and siblings Lydia, Luke, Daniel and Emma. She also is survived by her great grandmother (Arline Casson), grandparents Reema (Karen MacGregor), Nana and Pappy (Jim and Jeanne Mansfield) and all her aunties and uncles and cousins. Hannah has joined her Papa (Sam MacGregor) in heaven, and they are rejoicing together.

That is not the end of Hannah’s story. In many ways it is the beginning of her eternal story. The Bible says that we are to grieve as those with hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13). Death is real and it is hard. Hannah’s family and friends are grieving! And yet the hope is that Hannah truly is with the Lord Jesus Christ at this very moment. What is the source of that hope? In John 14:2 Jesus speaks these amazing words, “In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.” What a promise the Lord has given! He has prepared a place for Hannah, and he has eagerly received her into his heavenly kingdom.

So many people have loved and prayed for Hannah. Too many people to list here. Hannah was blessed and encouraged by the support of all her friends, church families and medical teams throughout her life. Thank you!
