Hans C. Hasslinger

May 20, 1983 — July 17, 2022

Hans Charles Hasslinger, a gentle and kind soul, left us unexpectedly on July 16, 2022. His death was due to undiagnosed cardiac artery disease resulting in a heart attack. Hans was born May 20, 1983 in Hartland, WI and lived there for his brief 39 years.

Hans was a loving and thoughtful son and grandson, a caring friend, and a pleasant person to whomever he met. He kept conversations lively and entertaining with his congenial banter.

Hans and his grandmother Peggy shared a special rapport. He drove her to appointments and errands and would ask her to share family stories with him. With sincere interest, she would in turn ask him about his life. Peggy would also send handwritten notes of insight and encouragement to Hans.

In his youth, Hans enjoyed team sports. He took on the gritty catcher’s position in little league baseball and excelled at it. At a summer program at St Johns Military Academy, Hans with his teammates won several awards in skills competition. And Hans was the only one in his class to complete a face forward rappel. In recent years, Hans enjoyed competitive games of disc golf with his good friend Kevin.

Hans loved to cook and worked at several restaurants. A highlight of his culinary career was his work at Erin Hills Golf Course for the 2017 US Open. Wherever he worked, his managers praised his demeanor and dependability and his customers found they would receive stellar service and a friendly smile.

Hans was intrigued by history, especially that of his family. He and his uncle Cletus would discuss their Swedish ancestor’s 1842 settlement in Chenequa and North Lake and visit the land they settled, their gravesites, and a memorial which honors them. His uncle considered Hans to be his best student of their shared family history.

Hans is preceded in death by his grandparents Cletus David Hasslinger and Margaret Bergwall Hasslinger Bartlett and cousin Terence David Weber. He is survived by his mother, Monica Hasslinger, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will deeply miss him.

Visitation will be held at Evert-Luko Funeral Home in Hartland, WI on Wednesday, July 27 from 9am – 11am followed by a memorial service at 11:00am. The family will proceed to St Charles Cemetery for a private burial and asks that you join them for a light lunch at American Legion in Hartland.
