Harriet M. Bussewitz, 76, of Hartland, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Summit Hospital in Oconomowoc. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 23, 1946 to Harold and Lavinia Ney.
Harriet was a loving wife, a devoted mother and her grandsons were the light of her life. She always had a Lego kit ready to build with her Gus and a construction site set up for her Sam. Her grandsons cherished their time with grandma.
She grew up in Hartland on her family’s homestead, where her dad and mom operated the local saw mill and repair shop. She graduated from Divine Savior Holy Angels High School and then went on to receive her associates degree. She was a devout Catholic and her faith was a very important part of her life. She was an incredible mother who advocated for her son and was always cheering him on in all of his ventures. Her and her husband were avid antique tractor and engine collectors and you could always see them at the local thresheree enjoying the sights and sounds. She will be missed by many.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, David L. Bussewitz; son Brian D. Bussewitz (Anna); and was the extremely proud grandmother of Gus and Sam Bussewitz.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 24th, 2023 at St. Charles Catholic Church (313 Circle Dr.) Hartland from 10:30-11:30 AM with a Mass at 11:30 AM. Due to construction the church kindly request visitors park in the Northeast Parking Lot. Burial to follow at St. Charles Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the American Heart Association in the name of Harriet Bussewitz.
