James D. Hilligoss Jr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James D. Hilligoss Jr., age 59, of Hartland, WI, on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at UW Hospital in Madison, WI. Jim, born in Milwaukee, WI, on March 21, 1965, left this world peacefully after a long battle with health complications, ultimately succumbing to pneumonia.

Jim was a beloved husband, father, son, and friend. He faced many challenges with courage, including a successful lung transplant 13 years ago, after which he continued to live life to the fullest. Tragically, Jim lost his son, JT, to Sudden Cardiac Arrest at the age of 17. Despite this loss, Jim's faith, positivity, and the love and support of his family, friends, and medical team helped him persevere.

Jim was passionate about skiing, boating, camping, ATV riding, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers. He cherished time spent with loved ones around bonfires and in the outdoors.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jill; daughter, Jamie (Alex); parents, James Sr. and Karen Hilligoss; brother, Scott (Hanna, Nathan); sister, Trisha (Doug) Loper; and sister, Susanne (Chad) Preisler; along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, JT (James Thomas).

A visitation to honor Jim’s memory will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM at St. Charles Church, 313 Circle Drive, Hartland, WI. A service will follow, and Jim will be laid to rest beside his son at Hartland Cemetery.
