James (Jim) Cullen 81 years old, passed away on July 4, 2023, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 54 years, Carol; his four children, Allison (Andy) McIntyre, Melissa (Scott) Patterson, Mark (Kendra) Cullen, and Todd (Ashley) Cullen; and seven grandchildren: Nolan, Carson, and Tristan McIntyre; Cullen Patterson; and Benjamin, Maxwell, and Madeline Cullen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Bessie Cullen, and his sisters Kathleen and Patricia.
Jim was born in Bay View, Wisconsin, attended high school at St. John’s Cathedral, and graduated from Marquette University with a BSBA, majoring in Marketing and Economics. After serving in the Air Force, he began his career in metalworking sales at the Ladish Company, where he participated in the Apollo 11 Lunar Excursion Module and the Pioneer Spacecraft nuclear engine capsule. He then went on to Maysteel Industries, becoming Vice President of Sales and Marketing. The last 25 years of his career were in shaped wire, first at Charter Manufacturing, then at Bekaert Corporation. He was head of Sales and Marketing for multiple divisions at both companies. Jim retired for two years at age 66, then decided to go back to work in Sales and Marketing for JJISCO, Inc. (McReps, Inc.) for 11 years.
He loved traveling, visiting 48 states and 23 countries, many times with Carol and his family.
He was also very active in the community during his life, serving as a Scoutmaster, CCD teacher, Junior Achievement adviser, and guest lecturer at UW-Milwaukee on Turn Around Management. He served two terms on the School Board of Swallow School, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the Hartland Rotary, and the Hartland Chamber of Commerce.
The family deeply appreciates all the love and support shown by friends and family. We are incredibly grateful and will always remember your kindness. We also want to thank the many healthcare workers for their compassion and thoughtful care of Jim and the whole family.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2023, at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church, North Lake, (W314N7462 WI-83, Hartland) WI. Family and friends are invited to visit directly at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Inurnment will be held in St. Clare Catholic Cemetery, North Lake. The family invites those in attendance to join them for a reception immediately following Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jim’s name may be made to St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church or St. Teresa of Calcutta St. Vincent de Paul Society.
