John G. Fredericks of Delafield entered Eternal Life Friday, September 23, 2022 at the age of 91.
John graduated from Wauwatosa High School in 1950 and became a Charter Member of Jr. Achievement. At Marquette University- School of Business Administration he earned his degree in 1954 and was a member of Delta Sigma Pi. John proudly served in the Korean War attaining 1st Lieutenant ranking. He was a Sales Engineer at Ladish Co. later transitioning to Sales Representative generating his own business C & M Sales. John made a living on straight commission from the sales of forgings castings and machine components.
On May 1, 1971, he married Ruth E. Karius. They met attending a sailing seminar with the Vagabond Ski Club. Little did they know then that their family connections were sailing and ice figure skating. Their contract to each other before marriage was John would continue sailing and Ruth ice figure skating. He enjoyed watching her skate (figures free-style and/or dance) and she learned how to sail.
Known for being and avid reader, John also loved sailing, coupled with inland yachting and Lake Michigan racing, he was also a life member of the South Shore Yacht Club. Other hobbies included listening to music, traveling and canoeing. He will be remembered for his dry wit bringing a smile to all he encountered and most importantly supporting those in need of comfort. On February 23, 2016, John converted to the Catholic Church.
John is preceded in death by his parents Hermie H. and Cora T. (nee Breckheimer) Fredericks and cherished adopted sister Edna Giese.
John is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Ruth E. (nee Karius)
With numerous health issues Ruth is grateful for the exceptional loving and compassionate care at home by Dawn Kallin as well as the Doctors, Nurses and Therapists at Waukesha Memorial Hospital and Kensington Care and Rehab.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for John will take place on October 20, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church, 313 Circle Dr. Hartland. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of Service. Please use the northeast parking lot and avoid the no parking zones on the street around the church. Full Military Honors and a reception will be held following Mass.
In lieu of flowers please make memorials to the Cornerstone Project of St. Charles or to a charity of your choice.
