John S. Heinzelman

July 17, 1944 — April 8, 2025

John "Jack" S. Heinzelman, formally of Hartland, passed away at Sauk Prairie Healthcare in Prairie Du Sac, WI on April 8, 2025, at the age of 80.

Jack was born in Waukesha, WI, to George and Arlene (Peterson) Heinzelman on July 17, 1944. He was a graduate of Arrowhead High School and then the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Susan; son, Jay (Cherlynn Collicott); grandchildren, Charlie and Jason; sister-in-law, Judy (Bob) Griffin; and niece, Kim Steffes.

He was an avid spectator of his son's many high school golf meets and lifetime of bowling tournaments. This passion was extended with many more of his grandson's basketball, football, baseball and bowling events. He was a dedicated league bowler and has the distinction of bowling his first 300 game in 1993, 5 months before his son's first 300 game.

Jack was very knowledgeable about everything and always had stories to recall fondly with his family and friends. Later in life, he volunteered at the Badger History Group, a group committed to preserving the story of the Badger Army Ammunition Plant. He was their expert in scanning negatives into the computer archive and gave up on counting them after 20,000. Jack is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jim.

A private service for Jack will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Evert-Luko Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jack's name may be made to the Badger History Group, UW Health Carbone Cancer Center, or the American Cancer Society.
