Kathleen R. Bronsted

April 15, 1957 — April 29, 2023

Kathleen (“Kathy”) Rose Bronsted, age 66, passed away peacefully April 29, 2023 due to complications caused by lung cancer. Her tragic passing came at much too young of age and with much too little warning, yet the impact she made on everyone she loved will last for generations to come.

She was born April 15, 1957 in Plymouth, Wisconsin to Gilbert and Shirley Glenzer. After lovingly living “in sin” with her longtime beau, Steve Bronsted, for 33 years, they finally married on April 8, 2018 in Las Vegas. While they each had been married before (and each blessed with a child from those unions), they launched their new life in 1985 in Maricopa County, Arizona. Kathy had a warm and generous spirit, demonstrated by the fact that Kathy and Steve opened their home to family and friends to live and stay whenever they were in need for a place to sleep. Although Kathy loved the warm sun of Arizona and the people she treasured there, work opportunities prompted Kathy and Steve to move their family back to Wisconsin, the state where they both grew up. This allowed Kathy to become a constant and caring role in the lives of her Wisconsin-family, including her treasured parents and many of her siblings and their families. Kathy’s thoughtfulness, sense of humor, practicality, and dependability made her a critical part of so many people’s lives, and her ability to love and be loved was unparalleled.

For many years Kathy worked as a bartender at places such as the Inn Between (Hartland, Wisconsin), Earl’s (Sun City, Az), Country Meadows (Peoria, Az), the Phoenix (Hartland, Wisconsin), and Saxes (Wales, WI). She devoted her life to her family, leaving her job as bartender to work full-time to care for her grandchildren while the daughters she loved pursued their careers. She also was a mother-like figure for dozens of others who visited or stayed for periods of time at her house. Kathy often expressed that dedicating herself to helping care for her grandchildren was one of the most rewarding choices she ever made.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Steve Bronsted, son Michael Brophy, daughter Jamie Fawley, daughter Stephanie Bronsted, and daughter Britany Glidden; sons-in-law Craig Woolson, Aaron Fawley, and Jake Glidden; grandchildren Cole, Keegan, Hailey, Rylie, Lillian, Kaden, Greyson, and Josie; and great-grandchildren Jaxon and Axel; siblings William Glenzer, David Glenzer, Susan Franz, and Margaret Dickson; and her many cousins, nephews, nieces, godchildren, and other loving souls who thought of her as “mom.” All of these she loved deeply and touched their hearts immensely.

Please join us celebrating her life Saturday afternoon May 6, 2023, between 12:00 p.m. — 3:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 231 Goodwin Ave., Hartland, WI 53029.
