Kathy M. Boerger

March 13, 1945 — February 27, 2023

Kathleen “Kathy” M. Boerger (nee Zueck), passed away peacefully on February 27, 2023, after a long battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family.

Kathy was born to Eligio and Margaret Zueck on March 13, 1945, in Milwaukee, WI. She graduated Washington High School in 1962. Two years later, she married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Boerger on September 4, 1965. Just one year later, she was blessed with her first born, Michelle and later welcomed their second child, Jeffrey or best known as “Boo”, by family and friends, alike. Their family was complete, and she took pride in that, and selflessly put both her children and husband first in everything that she did.

Kathy was reserved, but her sense of humor was contagious. Regardless of the situation, she would always come up with a witty comment to make someone laugh. She spent many of her childhood summers in Wakefield, MI where she and her many cousins made memories on Sunday Lake and Tank Hill. As a teen, she dreamed of being on American Bandstand, loved to dance and sing, and fell in love with Paul McCartney and went to her first concert, the Beatles, which she never heard—because of the screaming. With her love for warm weather, fishing and floating in the pool in an inner tube were some of her favorites – funny she hated the water. But most of all, her devotion to her family shined as she never missed an event for her children or grandchildren. Whether it was a track meet, watching cheer, baseball games, outdoor soccer, basketball, or dance competitions, she was always there, always proud, and always smiling.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 57.5 years, Bob Boerger; her daughter, Michelle (David, Jr.) Neira; grandson, Mitchell Neira and grand-daughter Abigail Neira; daughter in- law, Leslie Boerger; and grand-daughters, Alex, Miranda and Quinn Boerger.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Eligio and Margaret (Beber) Zueck; and sister, Carol Krznarich.

While so saddened by our loss, we are for grateful that she has been reunited with her cherished and only son, Jeff “Boo” Boerger, who left this earth unexpectedly in 2003 and who she has missed every single day since.

The family would like to extend gratitude to all of the doctors, nurses, and other caregivers of ProHeath Care Oncology and Home Hospice who cared for Kathy.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at St. Charles Catholic Church, (313 Circle Drive), Hartland. Kathy’s family invite family and friends to visit directly at church on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will be held at St. Charles Parish Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Kathy to the American Cancer Society of Wisconsin.

Although we will all miss her dearly, we know that “when cardinals appear…angels are near.”
