It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marina Doris Zimmerman, age 88, on October 4, 2024. Marina, a resident of Hartland for over the past five years, was a beloved mother, grandmother, mentor, and friend who touched the lives of everyone she met.
Marina was born on March 20, 1936, in Grove City, Minnesota, the daughter of Arnold and Olga (Neilson) Larson. Marina was one of three siblings. She was a Member of St. Teresa of Calcutta Church, North Lake, WI.
She was a devoted wife of 64 years to Eldred Zimmerman, meeting him in Eden Valley, Minnesota on April 1st, 1954 where he asked for her hand in marriage on their first date. He shared his story many times with pride. He was proud to have Marina, a strong, beautiful, and committed wife. And will now be reunited with his bride.
Balancing her roles with grace, she was a loving mother. Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support inspired countless individuals to strive for a good life. She loved her children and was always there for them offering support, wisdom, and love.
Marina enjoyed painting art, watching birds, gardening, and had a great love for animals throughout the years, especially dogs. Joey, Marina’s Teddy Bear dog, brought joy, laughter, and companionship into her life.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eldred Christ Zimmerman, parents, Arnold and Olga Larson, sister, Jean Larson, stepfather, Paul Thompson, stepbrother, Gary Thompson. She is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Patricia), Deborah (Jim Steele), and Timothy (Nancy), 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Further survived by her brother Arnold (Marlys), and many other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Evert-Luko Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 10:30 AM. Burial will immediately follow the service at St. Clare Cemetery in North Lake. A reception will follow the committal.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marina Zimmerman to the Cancer Society, Heart Association, or Alzheimer’s and Dementia Society of America are appreciated.
