Norma Ruth Young (McGuire) was born to eternal life on March 14, 2023 at 99 years old. She was born October 3, 1923 to Roy and Ruby McGuire in Whiteland, Indiana.
Norma lived her younger life on the Brown County family farm and then the Indianapolis area. The farm was a hardworking and loving life and she was one tough cookie for it. She was very close with her siblings Jean, Lester, Pat and Sonny and visited with them and their families often.
Norma met the love of her life Everett Arthur (Art) in grade school in their 1-room schoolhouse and were happily married for almost 57 years. They welcomed their only child Pam on December 23, 1944. Pam and her husband Jon and their children Shannon and Meghan were the proudest parts of her life and she never missed any major milestones for any of them. Norma and Art traveled from Indiana to Wisconsin frequently to see Pam and her family, every 3-5 weeks for over 30 years.
Norma and Art loved to travel all over the US in their big red truck with a camper or 5th wheel on the back. Alaska was their favorite place and “On the Road Again” was their motto.
When Art passed away in 2000, Norma moved to Hartland, Wisconsin to be near Pam and her family. She missed Indiana but loved getting to be a part of her four great granddaughter’s daily lives and all their sports, plays and activities.
Norma was a special soul and 99 years was not enough. She is loved a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Ruby McGuire, her loving husband Art and her brothers and sister-in-laws Lester (Geneva), Pat (Ioleen), Sonny and Al Pieper. Norma is survived by her sister Jean, her daughter Pam and her favorite son-in-law Jon. Her grandchildren Shannon (Colleen) and Meghan (Matt) and great grandchildren Kayleigh, Keegan, Alannah and Quinn. Her sister-in-law Toki and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins. She is further survived by many family members and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 17 at 2:00, Forest Lawn Memory Gardens & Funeral Home, 1977 SR-135 S, Greenwood, Indiana. Family and friends are invited to visit from 1:00 until the time of service.
