Peter C. Friend

Peter Christensen Friend, born February 27, 1927, passed peacefully on May 13, 2024, at the age of 97. Youngest son of the late Emma and James Friend, adored husband of 64 years of the late Grace Vento Friend. Cherished father of Laura (Lee) Shulman, Susan (David) Barnett, Peter (Heidi) Friend and Margaret Friend. Loving and beloved grandfather to Becky (Noah) Becker and Andrew (Ally) Shulman, Sarah Barnett, Lizzy, and JP Friend, and Sean (Becca) Horner and Megan (Logan) Bonwell. Adoring great-grandfather of Davis and Hannah Becker and Lucy Shulman. Brother of the late Bee Anderson and Anders Friend.

Peter attended Milwaukee Country Day School where he made lifelong friends. He was a WWII veteran serving in the US Navy. He then worked with his family at Nordberg Manufacturing Company where he met his wife and the love of his life, Grace. Peter was a Mr. Fix-it, boating and lake enthusiast, downhill skier, and a man of few words who remembered everything.

Longtime member of Chenequa Country Club, Beaver Lake Yacht Club (commodore), Pine Lake Yacht Club (commodore), Bilge Pullers (#209), Kettle Moraine Curling Club, Heiliger Huegel Ski Club and Past-President of the Village of Chenequa. In addition to his devotion to his family, he and Grace were friends and mentors to many in the Lake Country region.

A celebration of Peter will be held in the next weeks for time to share memories.
