Richard “Dick” Troemel passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023, at the age of 90. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his family, at ProHealth AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc.
Dick was born on July 26, 1932 in Waukesha, WI; son to the late Kurth and Martha (Peikert) Troemel of Waukesha. He was the youngest of twelve children. Dick owned and operated multiple dry cleaners in the Milwaukee County and Waukesha County area. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean war, and a proud member of the Hartland American Legion Post 294.
Dick married Suzanne "Sue" (nee Hartwell) Troemel on April 21, 1956. The couple resided in Hartland for many years, where they raised their family.
Dick is the loving father of Jim Troemel, Waukesha; Dave (Jun Doligosa) Troemel, Cathedral City, CA; and Debbie (Todd) Cummings, Fort Atkinson; the loving grandfather of Jason (Lyndsey) Troemel, Waynesville, NC; Eric Troemel, Waukesha; Meghan (Casey) Henthorne, Oconomowoc; and Anna (Eric) Hoeft, Fort Atkinson; and the loving great-grandfather of Aleyah, Taylor, and Alice.
Dick is survived by his children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brother, Kurt (Erna) Troemel, Whitewater; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne "Sue" (nee Hartwell) Troemel (2015), parents, and other loved ones.
Dick enjoyed spending time with family and friends while at his homes in Oconomowoc and Surprise, AZ, golfing, and playing Skip-Bo. He was well known for his love of sweets, kind demeanor, and great sense of humor. Dick was loved by everyone who met him, and will be dearly missed by family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at St. Mary's Episcopal Church (36014 Sunset Drive) in Dousman, with The Rev. Pippa Lindwright officiating. Family and friends are invited to visit directly at church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Village of Hartland Cemetery, Hartland where Full Military Honors will be held.
