Robert "Bob" Krauski

July 16, 1947 — April 19, 2024

Robert Anthony Krauski, age 76, of Monches Wisconsin passed away on Friday April 19, 2024.

Robert, or Bob as his friends and family knew him, was a second-generation Stained Glass Master Craftsman. Together, Bob and his wife Mary began Gemini Stained Glass Studio on the East Side of Milwaukee in the 1960s. They eventually moved to Monches to raise their two sons, Peter and Matthew, and opened Krauski Art Glass. Over the years, Bob mastered many different glass skills during his long career including etching and glazing, however he was well-known for his sandblasting skills. Early in his career, Bob traveled all over the country with his wife and sons showcasing his glass at art fairs. The Annual Monches Area Artisan Open House, every December, was another popular time when Krauski Art Glass would open their doors to the public and display all of their beautiful art.

Krauski Art Glass has pieces all over the country, but some of Bob’s most treasured pieces are within driving distance from Monches. Bob’s art can be viewed within the UW Madison Hospital Campus, multiple libraries including both North Lake Library and Hartland Public Library, multiple nature centers, churches, medical centers, private residences and many other places.

In Bob’s free time, which wasn’t often, he enjoyed being outside. Bob had large vegetable gardens in the summer. Bob was known to chop a tree or two down in the summer and spend the days splitting wood. He loved to take the boat he built out onto the pond and fish. He would sit by the bonfires in the summer and chat with his sons and their friends who loved talking politics with him. In the winter, Bob enjoyed making wood-stove fires.

In the last years of his life, Bob was the primary caregiver for his wife Mary who suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease. His dedication to caregiving allowed Mary to remain in her own house.

Bob leaves behind his wife Mary (Arendt), his sons Peter (Megan) Krauski and Matthew (Melissa) Krauski, his grandchildren Trenten (Hannah) Miner-Krauski, Eli (Sam) Krauski, Madelyn Krauski, Mason Krauski, his great-grandchildren Braylon Miner-Krauski and Mazie Miner-Krauski. He also leaves behind many other family members, colleagues and good friends.

A Celebration of Bob’s life will take place at a later date.
