Sally Anne Burns (nee Wille) age 76 passed away on April 11, 2020 at Angels Grace Hospice surrounded by her family following a short battle with cancer.
She was born March 10, 1944 to parents Lucille and Charles Wille joining her sister Betsy. She grew up in Hartland and was a graduate of Arrowhead High School and Spencerian College. Sally married the love of her life Irving A. “Pete” in 1966 and settled in Oconomowoc. She held numerous jobs over the years, her favorite being at home daycare where she built lifelong friendships. In 1988 they moved to Dunn County “God’s Country” and enjoyed their time together until Pete’s passing in 1997. She remained in Dunn County working at Fleet Farm until she retirement at age 65; young enough to enjoy her grandkids yet old enough to not get into too much mischief with them.
Sally was a strong woman with a tender heart, gentle spirit and the patience of Job. Adversity and challenges were always met with bravery. She adored movies, everything from Annie and The Sound of Music to the Hallmark Channel. A longtime member of the UCC in Hartland and former bowler. She loved reading, word searches and music including gospel, polka and old country. Her cheeky little smile taught us to smile when our hearts ached or were bursting with joy.
Survivors include her children Allan (Deb) Burns, Oconomowoc, Janene Sample, Menomonie and Charles Burns, Hartland; her grandchildren Zach Sample, Max Sample, Ella Burns, Camden Burns, Maya Sample, Livi Sample, Alexandra “Lexi” Burns and Lily Burns and her beloved supporting sister Betsy “Bunny” Shurte, Hartland. She is further survived by other family and friends. A special thank you to her lifelong devoted friend Barb Zweig and her nieces Ann Shurte and Ellen Hepp.
The family is grateful for all the far-reaching love, support and prayers over the recent months. Sally was one of the MOST cherished and pure believers to be escorted by her savior to the garden of heaven.
There are some who bring
A light so great to the world,
That even after they have gone,
The Light remains
