Sidney John Hayek

October 12, 1932 — December 23, 2019

Sidney John Hayek, “Sid”, died at the age of 87 from Alzheimer’s Disease on Dec. 23, 2019. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Joann, and their three children: Carl (fiancé Cathi), Neil (Benjie), and Diane. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Stephanie, Jen, Tim, and Kaiti; great granddaughter: Lacey; sister: Joyce King, and sister-in-law: Jean (George) Goyer. He is also remembered by five nieces, three nephews, and close friends of the family.

Sid was born “at the farmhouse” in Saxeville, WI, on Oct. 12, 1932. He lived in Saxeville during the early years of his childhood. His family then moved to Hartland, WI, where Sid attended grade school and high school. He attended college for one year at Dana College in Nebraska. He was drafted into the army in 1952 and spent two years in service. Sid married Joann on June 13, 1959. He was an active lifelong member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hartland, having taught confirmation classes. Sid was a carpenter by trade, and built his family’s home in Pewaukee, WI, alongside his dad, George. The favorite place for Sid to spend time was “up north” in Saxeville at the family cottage, where he enjoyed fishing and visiting with relatives. Sid loved to tease people with his dry sense of humor, loved all animals, and really loved to talk. Sid was also a great listener who always made time to help others.

Sid will be deeply missed by his family, but comfort will come through lasting memories.
