It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Robert Savage, who left this world and was born to eternal life on October 20th, 2024, at the age of 71. He was born on June 18th, 1953, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Shirley (Haeger) and Joseph Savage. He was the third of four siblings (Rose Ann, Susan, and Patricia). Tom spent his life as he lived it - honest, hard-working, faithful, artistic, and compassionate.
Tom was married on October 2, 1976, to his love, Julie Savage (Robertson). He met her in Julie’s backyard at his best friend’s house. They were high school sweethearts. He even asked her to marry him twice and waited until Julie felt “old enough” to commit to a lifelong relationship with a “Savage”. They just celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary.
Thomas was a loving, and caring father. He was active in his children’s lives, coaching them in soccer and football, taking them to dance practice, and leading them in Cub Scouts. Many nights, he took over cooking gourmet meals when Julie worked second shift as a nurse.
Tom enjoyed tinkering with art projects, such as stained glass and steampunk lamps. He enjoyed searching for antiques to use for his many projects. He loved to fix things especially “mowers & blowers” and met many great friends doing this. Tom enjoyed traveling, playing sheepshead, rooting for the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and any sports his grandchildren played. You could always hear his booming voice yelling above the crowd! He loved fishing, especially “up north” in his boat with Julie, and ice fishing with the guys. He was a Member of St. Charles Parish in Hartland, WI for 35 years. He showed a strong faith in Our Lord and modeled this for his family. He loved life and lived fully every moment.
Tom was a beloved husband to Julie Savage (Robertson) and a devoted father to Sarah Garrett (Joshua), Robert Savage (Andrea) and Jonathan Savage. He is survived by his sisters Rose Ann Fohey (Jerome), Susan Wolfe, and Patricia Savage, grandchildren Maxwell, Ezekiel, and Linus Garrett, Ruby, and Oliver Savage. Further survived by cherished sister and brother-in-laws (who he was “a big brother to”), Aunts, Cousins, In-laws, and friends.
Tom was a kind, generous, joyful, and sometimes cheeky soul. It was fun to be around him and he made our lives richer. He touched the lives of everyone he met.
His family would like to thank the staff at Waukesha Memorial Hospital and Froedtert Menomonee Falls for the great care that Tom received, especially nurses Grace and Megan, and Dr. Randolph Lipchik.
