William "Bill" P. Cuff

November 10, 1945 — June 10, 2023

After a long battle with multiple health issues, William “Bill” Paul Cuff passed peacefully into eternal life on June 10, 2023, at the age of 77.


Bill was born in Hancock, Michigan on November 10, 1945. His parents were Francis and Margret (nee Shea) Cuff and he was raised in Hancock with his siblings: brother Francis and sisters, Marylyn and Margie.


Bill attended the Hancock School System and graduated from High School in 1963. He attended Michigan Tech University several years concentrating his studies in accounting.


In 1970, Bill moved to the Milwaukee area where he obtained a job with Holt Electric Motor Company in the Accounting/Payroll Department. Bill worked hard and enjoyed a very successful career with Holt Electric for 32 years in various capacities including: Accounting Manager, CFO, and President. Holt Electric employees always loved Bill as he always looked out for the employee’s short-term and long-term best interests. Holt Electric was one of the top Electrical Distributors in the nation.


Bill married Joan Fahey on June 12, 1987. They resided in Delafield WI and raised two sons, William R. “Billy” and Daniel R. “Danny.”


Some of Bill’s favorite activities and hobbies included: spending time in Michigan as much as possible, actively supporting Billy and Danny in Ice Hockey for many years, and the appreciation of watercraft of any kind. Bill enjoyed hosting rides on his deck boats and especially enjoyed his Fountain Powerboat. Bill also had a passion for classic cars and fast cars, along with motorcycles, snowmobiles, and ATV’s. He enjoyed his Kubota tractor in his retirement. Bill loved spending time exploring, hunting, and walking on his Hancock “Farm” property near McLain State Park and Bear Lake.


In his retirement, Bill relocated back to Hancock in 2005 where he resided until his death.

He maintained permanent residence in Hancock to varying degrees his whole life.


Those who knew Bill were always taken by his witty comments, fun jokes, and astounding stories. There was usually laughing around Bill.


He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.


Bill is survived by his two sons, Billy and Danny, and their mother Joan; his two sisters, Marylyn (Randy) Sandrik and Margie (David) Courtney; three nephews, Stephen Sandrik & family and David Courtney III & family, and Dr. Robert Cuff (Karla) & family; eight nieces, Sara Sandrik (nee Goins), Julie Ann Sandrik (nee Moon) & family, Jennifer Courtney-Trice, Anne Courtney-Coorssen & family, Kathleen Courtney & family, Mary Kay Kass (Richard) & family, Laura McLain, Carolyn Gagnon (Dan) & family.


A Memorial Service for Bill will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Evert-Luko Funeral Home (170 Warren Avenue) Hartland. Family and friends are invited to visit directly at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.


There will be an additional Memorial Service for Bill's Michigan family and friends held on August 30, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Quincy's Restaurant and Lounge, 48860 M-26, Dollar Bay, MI 49913.
