Darlene F. Zache

Darlene F. Zache (83) of Hartland, died peacefully at her home, Saturday, March 16, 2019.  She was the youngest daughter of Harvey L. Johnson and Madeline May Johnson (Cox). Born on April 4, 1935 in Milwaukee, she attended Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran School in West Allis for her primary years and received her High School diploma from Juneau High School in Milwaukee. Some years following, she was employed at Allis Chalmers, where she met Harry Walter Zache from Milwaukee. They married on November 20, 1954 and lived most of their married lives in Hartland, where they raised four daughters. Harry worked until retirement at Dynex-Rivett Corp. as a draftsman, while Darlene worked after the girls were in school for several local businesses including the Seven Seas Restaurant, Hartland Plastics and Dickten & Maasch Mfg. until her retirement.


Darlene was an active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hartland for the past 60 years, and was a current member of the Ladies Aid @ Zion. In her earlier years, she was involved with their youth groups and many various fund raising events at Zion. She enjoyed camping on family vacations, cooking and baking and loved most sports, especially baseball, football and college basketball. She spent many weekends watching her grandchildren in their various sports that included soccer, track and field, and cross-country.


Harry, her husband of 55 years preceded her in death in January, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her older brother Donald L. Johnson (Menominee, WI), and his wife, Lorraine Johnson, her brother in law, Hilman (Swede) Swenson, and her sister, Joyce Swenson and dear niece and nephew, Linda and Gary Swenson. 


Surviving Darlene are her four daughters, Deborah Ann Schroeder (Carl), of Kiel, WI., Cheryl Lynn Searcy (Walter) of Madison Heights, MI., Denise Joy Perkins (Robert) of Watertown, WI., and Lisa Mae Stone (Brad) of Yoder, IN. Darlene was blessed and loved her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving her are her fifteen grandchildren. Coralee S. Sandee (Jeremy), Adam B. Schroeder (Becky), Kelly B. Rindt (David), Natalie R. Bykowski (Ryan), Jeremy Hetznecker and Erika Hetznecker, Jeffrey Dettmering (Shelly), Andrew Perkins (Emily), Cody Perkins (Nicole), James and Trevor Perkins, Justin Fetkenhauer, Nathan Fetkenhauer, Tyler Fetkenhauer and Dakota Stone. Great grandchildren, Hunter and Isaiah Sandee, Siena and Adeline Schroeder, Emma, Brooke and Elijah Rindt, Nora and Isaac Bykowski, Annabelle Hetznecker, McKennzie Dettmering, Kaylee Grace Perkins, Alexis Heath and Adler Fetkenhauer were so special to her, and she loved them all! Also surviving Darlene are her nephews, Douglas Johnson (Carolyn) of Adelphi, MD., and John Swenson (Cindy) of New Auburn, WI., and Lori Swenson of Dade City, FL. and other great nieces and nephews.


A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 415 W. Capitol Drive, Hartland. There will be a time of visitation for family and friends starting at 10:00, prior to the service. A luncheon will be provided in the basement of the church for anyone wishing to join us after the funeral service. There will be a Committal service to follow the luncheon for family members only at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 10700 W. Capitol Dr. Milwaukee.


Anyone wishing to send flowers or plants may send them to Darlene's home at 217 Meadow Lane, Hartland 53029 no sooner than the Wednesday, March 27.  Memorials should be designated to Zion Ev. Lutheran Church.


Pastor Benjamin Steenbock will be giving the funeral message to the family and friends of Darlene and on behalf of family we want to sincerely thank him for speaking the words of Jesus to comfort our family!
